Here
we preserve and promote Australia's horses of historic
breed significance, i.e. Walers. By doing so
we hope to retain this facet of our colonial heritage
and provide future access to the old and hardy genes
possessed by these animals, whose ancestors survived
and adapted to their new and hostile environment.
These
horses may still occasionally be identified amongst
Brumby herds which have
remained genetically isolated since they were bred and
managed.
Historically,
the breed is capable of producing selected individuals
capable of excelling in the appropriate discipline of
equine competition.
